The queer love story on season two of HBO’s “Perry Mason” between Della Street and Anita St. Pierre is different from others you’ve seen on TV, says actor Jen Tullock, who plays Anita. Tullock tells Salon what it means to play a closeted gay woman in 1933 and the thoughtful considerations that went into building her storyline. “I'm always craving more queer stories and I want to see myself and my fam represented, but I think sometimes those stories can tip into a bit of trauma porn,” she explained. Tullock shows how to carefully depict queer romance on screen from an actor’s point of view.
