Hello, friends,
I know. I'm late. Sorry!
Back to the #Timex #Sinclair #1000, the American cousin of the British Sinclair #ZX81.
Today we'll tackle both replacing the linear voltage regulator with a switching regulator from Traco Power and replacing the RF modulator circuit with a composite mod.
I should note something I forgot to mention in the video. This mod is only possible because the TS1000 I have is equipped with the later model ULA that includes the "back porch" in the video signal. If you have the earlier ULA, you will need a different mod to build in the back porch since that ULA didn't generate it.
I'm still learning about these beautiful little machines, so please forgive me going down a wrong path or two. In the end, we'll have a more usable computer.
The next part of this series will include a RAM upgrade and, hopefully, loading some software (if I can get that solved ... I'm still researching it, but I think I'm close).
Please enjoy!
Thank you for watching
Todd

Here's the schematic I used. NOTE: This is not mine. I found it in a blog post on Code Surfer Dev written by Ingo Schmied. He deserves full credit.
