In Part 1 we will show you how when run correctly, a compression bit leaves a sharp, clean edge on both sides of your workpiece.

1: Look at the bit on the right side of the video, this is how you use a compression bit correctly. Your first pass needs to be slightly deeper than the upcut section of the bit, then the remaining cutting area on the bit will push down the board and cleanly cut that top surface without tearing the surface of your workpiece.

2: Look at the bit on the left side of the video, this is how a compression bit can be used incorrectly. Notice that because the bit it not cutting deeper then the upcut portion of the cutting flutes, there is some tear out on the surface of this piece of birch plywood.
