Knee pain from chondromalacia patella can be so severe it hurts to knee or squat down. In some cases it just throbs and aches when sitting for too long.
This usually leads to knee arthritis if left untreated for years! But it is very manageable and people can almost always get back to being active again without worrying that the knee pain will come back or turn into knee arthritis one day.
Chondromalacia patella is an (apparent) thinning of cartilage between the thigh bone and the knee cap. We say apparent because it doesn’t always mean that your cartilage will stay thinned out forever. It can return to normal if the root problem is addressed correctly.
