Can assistive technology and robots help diagnose and treat an infant, child, or adult with a brain injury such as cerebral palsy? Michelle Johnson shows us it is possible. She combines robotics, rehabilitation, and neuroscience to help patients recover from brain injuries such as strokes and cerebral palsy. In her talk, she displays her innovative methods in improving rehabilitation using intelligent robotic assistants.
Michelle is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania and directs the GRASP Lab’s Rehabilitation Robotic Research and Design Laboratory Lab at the Perelman School of Medicine. As a pioneer of neurorehabilitation, her work has been featured at the prestigious International Conference on Rehabilitation Robotics and Engineering Medicine Biology Conference. To design affordable but novel therapeutic robots, her lab has also worked in Botswana, Mexico, Italy, and India to improve quality of life all over the world.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
