It was our honor and privilege to meet with our friend Russ Paul as Les Paul's White Custom from the cover of his autobiography was being brought in on loan to the Les Paul Exhibit. Russ tells us specifically that Les chose this guitar from among his collection for a reason… in order to help promote the Gibson Les Paul Brand, that it was one of Les' personal favorite guitars, that Les thought it was gorgeous... that it was indeed used to experiment with by Les to use as a benchmark for the sound he was always chasing, that it was one of the finest guitars Les owned, and that it was very special to Les! So there we have it... "Right from the horse’s mouth" to coin a phrase. Les Paul's son own Rus "Les Paul Junior" clears up any and all doubt about the guitar, verifies the facts first hand, and dispels any misinformed conjecture from outsiders who presume to nullify this wonderful guitar's historical importance, its connection to the Master, and its value to Les Paul's Legacy, and to the collector's market. Many, many thanks go out to Russ Cochran, Charlie Carreras of the Mahwah Les Paul Museum, and of course Rusty Paul... R.I.P.
