#SaulaForever As always I wanted to be a bit different, this is an idea I used once before and I just love poetry! This poem is perfect, and always gives me Saula hope as I can relate it. The song is 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables and the poem is Shakespeare's Sonnet 116... and thanks to the guy who I found on YouTube who had a lot better reading voice than me lol. Poem and modern day translation below.
The actual poem:
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds.
Or bends with remover to remove.
Oh no, it is an ever-fixed mark,
And is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth unknown, although his height be taken.
Live is not times fool, although rosy lips and cheeks,
Within his bending sickle compass come.
Love alters not with his briefs few hours or weeks,
But bears it out, even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov'd.
I never writ, nor did any man ever lov'd.
Meaning/ modern version (although impossible as lots is a metaphor, etc and every modern version is different to the next; so this is my variation):
I will make sure not to create obstacles for
the marriage of true minds/ relationship between sole mates.
Love is not love if it always alters/changes every time time something small changes.
Or helps assists or allows an obstacle trying to destroy it to do so.
Oh no, it is a state/thing which always stays the same,
Which looks at obstacles and possible bad things and doesn't worry.
It is like the north star for lost ships,
Which has a worth/quality unknown although we try and measure it or take it for granted.
Love does change in time,
although we ourselves might as we age
Love doesn't change and fade over just a few hours or weeks,
But keeps going even in the worst of times and until we die.
If I am wrong and someone can prove it,
I have never written, neither has any man ever loved.
