Hi and Welcome to my Chanel :)
Here is an Easy way for you to know if your jam or jelly which you worked so hard for, is ready for the jars.
Step 1 -clean 3 small plates and place on room temperature
After you are done cooking your jam or jelly, remove from heat
Step 2 -place a teaspoonful of your jam or jelly on the small plate
Step 3- place the plate inside the refrigerator and set the timer for 2 minutes
Step 4 -remove the plate from the fridge and place it on a table, with your finger try to push the top of the jelly -it should crinkle or wrinkle like in the video
If it doesn't crinkle or wrinkle when pushed -return your pot to the stove and cook some more for 2 minutes and then do the testing again.
Easy way to test jams (if the one you make is slightly chunky)
Place a tablespoonful onto the small plate
Place in the refrigerator for 2 minutes
Take out the plate and tip it on its side. The jam should slide slowly downwards as a clump not runny.
If it is runny, return the pot to the stove and cook for two minutes more and repeat the directions I have given again until it is set.
Enjoy and Happy canning!
