When you think of the people who saved Britain from Hitler you probably think of Winston Churchill.
Or Alan Turing.
Or maybe even the daring men of the Special Air Service.
But you've probably never heard of an unsung hero of World War II, a brilliant young aeronautical engineer named Beatrice Shilling.
When Hitler launched his massive air attack on Britain in July 1940, the Royal Air Force's Spitfire fighter was found to have a glaring flaw… a flaw that crippled it against its German opponents. With Britain's back against the wall, and the Battle of Britain about to be lost, Beatrice Shilling raced against time to fix the Spitfire's deadly flaw… before the Royal Air Force was destroyed and Britain was conquered by Hitler.
