Your RPE) refers to how hard you think you’re pushing yourself during exercise.

RPE) is an outcome measure scale & reliable indicator to monitor and guide exercise intensity.

So It is used in monitoring progress and mode of exercise in cardiac patients as well as in other patient populations undergoing rehabilitation and endurance training.



Now What factors determine your RPE?

The RPE scale includes the following:

How fast you’re breathing.
How fast your heart is beating.
How tired your muscles are.
How much you’re sweating.



Method of Use

In short Participants are asked to rate their exertion on the scale during the activity,

While rating u take into consideration..

feelings of physical stress and fatigue,....& disregarding any factor such as leg pain or breathlessness but.

Solely focusing on the whole feeling of exertion.


Scoring & Interpretation

The Borg RPE scale rates exertion from a scale of 6 that is (no exertion) to 20 indicating (maximum effort).

So A rating between 12 to 14 typically reflects a moderate or somewhat hard level of intensity.
