Medallists speak after the IAAF World Championships' blue riband event, the men's 100 metres race, on Sunday (23rd August) night at the Birds' Nest in Beijing, China.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Usain Bolt, gold medallist, men's 100 metres:
"After the stumble, I remember I come around and my coach asked me what happened, and I said I really don't know and he said, I think you think about the race too much, you think about try to get a perfect race, get anything better, and he said listen, you've been here too many times and you know what takes you to win, so just relax and get it done and execute it, and all you can do is just to execute as possible as you can."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Usain Bolt, gold medallist, men's 100 metres:
"For me, I am not expecting for less because Justin has been great all season, I am not going to just expect him show by the start line, and not compete because he is a great competitor, so I am definitely looking forward to it, as he said I am his favourite fan so something I want more than the 100 meters. So I am just going out there and do my best as always. And that's always key."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Justin Gatlin, silver medallist, men's 100 metres:
"You know at the end of the day, if I have to lose anybody, it has to be the man right here, to my right, but at the end of the day, I had a good stretch, I showed a lot of competitiveness, I went out and then gave it, all I can give at this point of time. The last five metres was little crucial, lean forward a little bit too much and caught off a little unbalanced, but it was a good race and all."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Justin Gatlin, silver medallist, men's 100 metres:
Question: Justin, a few athletes said it was a victory for your sports since Bolt won since you have been banned twice, what's you comment on that?
"I am thankful."
Question: OK, anything more? Can you be more specifically?
"Specifically, I am thankful."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Justin Gatlin, silver medallist, men's 100 metres:
"I am excited to go out and run the 200 meters, I have run 200m a lot this season, in the last couple of years, and I think the last time I ran against Usain was 2005, I think something like that, so it is going to be excited to be going out there and being with him and with the rest as well."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Justin Gatlin, silver medallist, men's 100 metres:
"Very excited for him (Su Bingtian). He has a good season and he ran really good time in the pre-fountain, to be able to equal his national record once again, has shown consistency in his hard training, and I wish the best for him and the rest of the sprinters of the country will come along as well."
