In Clyde Drexler's third-to last regular season game of his career, he shows his still NBA capable talents, with 25 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Drexler was exceptional all night, shooting 9 for 16 and drilling FIVE three-pointers. Clyde without a doubt could've kept playing, but chose not to following this season. It's uncommon for a player to retire still capable of playing in the NBA, which was obviously the case with Drexler, who in his age 35 season averaged 18.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in the last season of his career. He instead ill-fatedly chose to retire to become the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Houston. Drexler would go 19-39 in his two seasons as head coach. He definitely was better than all of his players.
Fun fact: Clyde Drexler did not make his high schools's varsity basketball team in his sophomore year. He instead, was a focal point of the school's varsity baseball team. Drexler was a 6'6 Center in high school (hey coaches-find out what your players skills are, not slotting them wherever their height makes sense), and didn't really get any recruitment until a stellar Christmas tournament performance during his senior year.
