Overcurrent Relay is a type of the protection relay, which operates when the current increases beyond the operating value of the relay. Depending upon the time of operation, overcurrent relays may be categorized as instantaneous over current relay, inverse time overcurrent relay, definite time overcurrent relay, inverse definite time overcurrent relay, very inverse overcurrent relay and extremely inverse overcurrent relay. These relays are explained below in details.

How dies OverCurrent relay works: In fault current region. Where there is fault current then the relay sense the fault current and trips electromagnetic switch and isolates the equipments from the power system.
Over Current conditions are the one where there is short circuit occurs in the system or the faults which causes the current in the conducter to increase exponentially.
Generali Over Current relay is electromagnetic relay which is set to current sensitive element.
