If the water heater pilot light will not stay lid there are two main options, the first one is the Thermocouple, but if this one is working fine and you can measure a voltage from there it could be the TRD or Thermal Release Device that when tripper shuts off air supply, this is why the unit will not stay lit. In my case this is a GE/Rheem/Richmond/Ruud water heater with a sealed combustion chamber. If you see the damper rod then the glass vial or link is probably broken.
If your unit is still under warranty call GE or Rheem and they will send you the repair kit. Call Manufacturer and ask for replacement parts and repair steps, and read manual for advisories. Keep the model and serial number handy.
If you smell gas, leave building immediately, do not turn on light switch, call gas company
I am not an plumber or a water heater technician and this video is for entertainment only. This is not a How-To or DIY (Do It Yourself) video, this is how I did it. Should not be attempted by untrained personnel, water and fire hazards are a big risks if you do things incorrectly, only you are responsible for your actions, proceed under your own risk.
Thanks for watching and reading
