So if you have a 50% win rate - that means that 50% of your trades are profitable. I've seen guys who are actively scalping having very high win rates (80% hit rates or more) but they don't really make much on each trade - its very intensive yet they still struggle with their trading due to friction and other costs or when they get it wrong the losses are large and they end up losing many multiples of their risk/past gains. Similarly for the guys selling options ... On the other hand there are swing traders out there who only have a 30% win rate yet they still make money in the long run. As such the win rate by itself is pretty meaningless - what is relevant is what is your risk:reward ratio in relation to your win rate. OK.
