"The challenges we have are hard. They don't need to be made any harder if I have a stylistic issue. Okay? They're hard on themselves--solving a pension issue, meeting our fiscal challenges, reforming our education to better serve all of the children of the city of Chicago--If my style, as I said in the campaign, contributed and made what is already a hard issue harder, I own that."

STORYLINE:
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he has his work cut out for him in a second term.
The former White House chief of staff spoke at a news conference Wednesday, a day after besting Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia in Chicago's first mayoral runoff.
After failing to win an outright majority in February's election, the famously aggressive mayor campaigned during the runoff on promises to soften his approach.
He says Chicago's problems, including rising pension costs, are hard enough without management style issues.
Emanuel says he wants the City Council to prioritize reform and change. Some organizations that supported Garcia have vowed to push Emanuel to embrace progressive policies.
Emanuel says he received congratulation calls from President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner.
