With movies, you've got native speakers speaking in situations that often times do happen, at least in some parts of the movie, anyway haha. But seriously, movies are a great way to improve Chinese, especially if you've already got your foundation!

LCFM - Learn Chinese From Movies - is an effective way to learn Mandarin. A great tool to have in your toolbelt! Much more entertaining than classrooms and textbooks, no other program like this exists on the Internet. It's great for people of all ages (ranging from Disney movies to more adult-oriented movies), contains a wide selection of movies, and new titles are always being added (at least 4 titles a month right now)! The movies contain Mandarin-audio Hollywood movies, which are difficult to find anywhere on the Internet - and they're great for those who want to learn Chinese from movies they're already familiar with. When it comes to Chinese, especially with listening, comprehension comes a little bit at a time. You pick up little keywords at the beginning and at the end, with the middle bits slowly falling into place over time. It's hard! Not going to lie! There's little in the way of bridging those gaps in comprehension in a real conversation in the beginning, but a way I did it was through movies! But I didn't do it in the way that you'd think.
