It is famous in the world for the graveyard, dust, beggars, and hot atmosphere. Multan is the only city of Punjab where 60% of handicraft is being produced and one of them is handmade blue pottery.Blue Pottery that is also known as Kaashi Gari was introduced in Multan centuries ago by local artisans who came with Arab conquered Muhammad Bin Qasim. In 1861 Alexander Cunningham a British army engineer and archaeologist was appointed as an archaeological surveyor of the subcontinent. In 1863, he visited Multan and found glazed tiles from Qillah Kohna Qasim Bagh. He claimed these glazed tiles were made in 900 A. This wonderful discovery was the indication that the tiles were used in a mosque built during the Mohammed Bin Qasim era when he arrived in Multan. Further researchers and archaeologists gave theories on the basis of this evidence that this art has roots in Kashan city of Persia and Kashgar city of China. Due to this reference artist is called “Kashgar,” and the art is known as “Kashigari”. The use of hedging branches, leaves of trees, and splendid richness of blue color in Kashi's work is evidence of Persian influence. With the passage of time artisans of Multan have been made uncountable innovations in functionality and patterns with specifying base colors white and blue to draw designs. Blue and white built their own credentials in the eye of handmade pottery.
