I've customized this unique 486 to suit my nostalgic tastes for a vintage 486 build for 2021 - follow the journey with me.
I couldn't find any distinct markings for the SBC, so I think that it's a Texas Instruments board based on those Opti chips. These single board computers were typically used in industrial settings as they could be swapped out more quickly to keep production lines operational from what I've read and heard.
Specs:
- 486 DX2 66Mhz Overdrive chip
- 8 MB RAM
- Trident 8900 1MB Video Card
- Sound Blaster AWE 64
- Creative Quad Speed CDROM
- Texas Instruments (?) Single Board Computer and ISA back plane
- Samtron 15inch Monitor
Tell me your thoughts, went for a chilled out vibe on this video without a voice over. Probably will put some benchmarks on this machine to see how its performing and do a follow up video at some point (I think its Doom performance isn't that great, might be due to the Trident card).
