At a hospital in S. Afghanistan, 1,100 children with malnutrition have been admitted in the past six months, 30 of whom died.
Hit by one of its worst droughts in decades, the Afghan households are struggling with acute shortage of food and poverty causing increasing numbers of malnutrition cases, especially among children.
UNICEF, the UN children's agency, said 1.1 million Afghan children under the age of five are expected to suffer from severe acute malnutrition, nearly double the number in 2018.
