12 persons are still hospitalized today as a result of a head-on crash near Pearisburg last night. (SHOW FILM)
22-year old Walter Harvey (Sonny) Carter died as a result of the crash.
State police identified Carter as the driver of a car which tried to pass a tractor-trailer, hit the front of the truck, bounced off and hit a car operated by 26-year old Robert L. Roles, of Ronceverte, West Va. Roles, his wife, and three children were hurt.
Still in serious condition is 23-year old Mary Katherine Sadler, of Staffordsville.
The mishap occurred on U.S. 460 not far from the Celanese plant.
