“Bye Bye Love” is from the debut album by The Cars, released in 1978. Benjamin Orr, bass player, sings lead vocals on this tune. This is my favorite tune on the album.
The band was considered new wave. Is that even a genre anymore? I won this album as a door prize at a school dance. I selfishly did not give it to my date! Along with this great tune about heartbreak, there are many other awesome songs on this album such as “Good Times Roll”, “Just What I Needed”, “My Best Friends Girl” and the song that follows “Bye Bye Love”, “Moving In Stereo”. These guys had a bunch of hits throughout the ‘80s. Another awesome part of the soundtrack of my life!
I hope you enjoy this nostalgic cover. I really enjoyed rediscovering this band during the process. These guys were ahead of their time with this “new wave” sound!
