For years, there have been whispers that Amber Heard would lose her job as Mera as a result of the ongoing issue. People are convinced that she does not deserve to continue playing the comic-book character now that they know more specifics about it. In fact, fan fiction depicts actress Emilia Clarke as a potential replacement for her in the future.

While the Cinema Con is still going on, there was proof circulating that Amber Heard only had 10 minutes of screentime in the recent screening that select members of the press witnessed. Jessica Kovacevic, the 36-year-old actress' talent agent, testified in Depp's. saying she was told Heard was given a lower role in the upcoming sequel due to her "lack of chemistry" with costar Jason Momoa, who plays the lead role. Kovacevic said while testifying that Heard was also set to make $2 million in the sequel. The actress has already filmed the movie, and it is set to hit theaters in March 2023. The agent said WME learned Heard's role as Mera was allegedly reduced when Heard received the script. Speaking about Heard's success after Aquaman, Kovacevic said that she believed the actress's career did not take off as much as Momoa's.

However, "contact stopped" between Warner Bros. and Heard over Aquaman 2 scheduling. According to Heard, her involvement in the sequel was eventually "extremely trimmed down."

Amber Heard was fortunate in that she was able to finish filming for her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It's unclear how Mera will play a role in this new plot.
