Nicolette was in her late 30’s, and had three children aged 21,16 and 14 years old. She had gained a lot of weight during her pregnancies, and at one stage weighed more than 130 kg. She had managed to lose a lot of weight over a the course of a couple of months, and was now 93 kg. Her Aim had been to get down to 70 kg. However, she was having a lot of trouble with her abdomen. As she exercised the loose skin would rub and cause her pain and discomfort, and she felt that it was limiting her ability to lose the remaining weight. She used to get painful rashes in the folds and had to stop exercising for periods of time to let this heal.
She had her lipo-abdominoplasty performed in November 2016.
She had extensive liposuction performed on her abdomen and sides, and had 1900 ml of fat removed. The lower abdominal skin was resected, and 1240 gram of skin and fat was removed from the right side, and 1298 gram of skin and fat was removed from the Left side.
She had a 7 cm separation of her muscles, which was brought together with a permanent barbed suture.
She stayed overnight in hospital and went home the next day.
She developed a superficial infection over Xmas and was treated with oral antibiotics. This infection resolved after one week, and on her review in January she had no further problems.
This video demonstrates the technique for lipo-abdominoplasty.
