Hamburg in winter is cold, but this doesn’t mean the city is in hibernation. With plenty to see and do during the coldest months of the year, aside from our plan to see the famous Christmas markets during Christmas holidays, we also set to enjoy a fairy tale experience in touring around some best attractions of this this magical German city. Hamburg is a year-round destination.
Hamburg is a very rainy city, with up to 20 days of rain in Hamburg in December! We arrived Hamburg in bad weather condition. However we preferred to be outside exploring, rather than inside museums and galleries.
On this video, Took a Winter Walk through the UNESCO World Heritage Speicherstadt District. The famous spot was originally a warehouse district (the largest in the world) and is an absolute must-see on any visit to Hamburg.
We visited the Elbphilharmonie free of charge and walks through the perimeter (360 degrees) on the view deck located on the 8th floor of the building. Ferry ride from port #72 is also enjoyable acitivities to experience during our stay in Hamburg
We experience to take the elevator going down (24 meters below) and passed through the tunnel under the Elb Tunnel. It serves as a cool passage to the other side of the river. The old Elbtunnel is one of the major historical building of Hamburg.
We get around the Sub U434 for around 40 mins. We enter at the back if the submarine walk through the eight section climbing through the porthole and stairs throughout the boat. To see the living quarters of the sailors, torpedo room, engine room and much more was very interesting and all for €9.
Overall we left Hamburg absolutely beaming! The city had all the ingredients we need for a perfect winter holiday, and was a wonderful surprise!
