(4 Apr 2018) The deputy British ambassador to The Hague said on Wednesday the international community had "firmly rebuffed yet another attempt by Russia to confuse and frustrate" the investigation into the poisoning deaths of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia.
Nick Heath said that there was "still no plausible alternative explanation for how two people were attacked with weapons-grade chemical weapons on the streets of Salisbury."
An international chemical weapons watchdog rebuffed Russia's request on Wednesday to join Britain's investigation of the nerve-agent poisonings in Salisbury last month.
Undeterred, Moscow next plans to take its denials of involvement to the UN Security Council.
Britain said Russia's proposal for a joint investigation received only six votes at a special session of the executive council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The council has representatives from 41 countries.
