There is a new advanced tech/technique discovered in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. This mechanic does not appear in any other Smash title. It is the process of pivoting out of run and canceling the skid with a move in the opposite direction. This will make the character slide, giving them a little more reach. Some characters, such as squirtle, can also use this to get even more mileage out of some moves. The slight re-positioning actually allows for further chains and followups that wouldn't combo otherwise.

There is a new advanced tech/technique discovered in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. I've heard it be called Pivot cancel, skid cancel, and even sliding tilt, or stilt, but I don't feel that name does it full justice because, while it is mostly used for sliding your tilt attacks, it can also be used to slide item throws such as Link's bombs or Diddy Kong's bananas. Maybe even more.
It is the process of canceling a pivot turn around and skid animation / directional change with a move in the opposite direction. It will make your character perform the move as intended but with an added slide.
Here is an example of a regular running tilt attack on Bowser.

How to.
If you pivot/turn around out of a run and quickly use a tilt attack in the opposite directly your character won't just attack, they will also continue to slide in that directly whilst simultaneously using said attack. I believe this is caused by the skid movement persisting into the attack yet the skid itself gets cancelled. This move is great as an approach tool, and can even be used as a combo extender.
Most character have the ability to perform this technique, however it may be more useful for some than others. To perform it simply dash forward, dash in the opposite direction, and quickly use a tilt attack in the initial direction. You're character will then slide while using the move to gain a minor positioning assist or distance extender. It is easiest to execute by binding tilt attacks to C-stick.
