Thengai Thogayal is a traditional and simple rice accompaniment prepared using coconut as a main ingredient. It's usually served with hot rice and spoon of gingelly oil or ghee. It can be prepared quickly and perfect for the busy days. Text version of this recipe is available @[ Ссылка ]
INGREDIENTS
1 cup Grated Coconut 1 cup = 250 ml
1 tbsp Urad Dal
1 tbsp Split Bengal Gram (Channa Dal / Kadalaparuppu)
4 nos Red Chili
1 pinch Asafoetida (Asafetida / Hing)
Few Curry Leaces
1 cranberry size Tamarind 1/4 tsp of Tamarind Paste
1 tsp Salt adjust to your taste
2 tsp Coconut Oil or any cooking oil
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat oil in a pan. Add urad dal, bengal gram dal,red chili and asafoetida. Fry till the dal turns light brown color
Then, add grated coconut, tamarind, curry leaces and fry till the coconut turns light brown color. If you are using tamarind paste, then you can add it directly to the mixer.
Cool all the roasted ingredients and take it to a mixer jar along with salt. Grind everything to a coarse paste by adding water little by little
Now the Thengai Thuvayal is ready to serve with hot rice
