During the first round of Funny Car eliminations on Sunday at the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways, Ron Capps’ car suffered an engine explosion, striking the right wall, crossing the centerline and hitting the left wall before coming to a stop. Capps was alert, exited the car under his own power, and was examined onsite by the NHRA Medical Team before being released.
