(5 Dec 2014) South Africans have been remembering the life of their former president, Nelson Mandela, on the first anniversary of his death on Friday.
A group of people held a moment of silence next to the statue of the former leader in Pretoria.
"We should celebrate every day, things like what Mandela did, he forgave his enemies after being in jail for so many years," said Gonsuelo Ve Los Reyet, a singer who was at the ceremony on Friday.
Mandela died in Johannesburg on December 5 last year at the age of 95.
