Volunteer firefighters with the Sequoyah Fire Department, Mowbray Mountain Fire Department and Soddy Daisy Fire Department are working a house fire at 1139 Old Thatcher Road. The fire broke out at about 8:30 Thursday morning. As you can see from the picture the flames are very high, the house is gutted. We're told no one was home at the time of the fire crews are looking for the homeowner right now. We have a crew on the scene and will bring you more details as we get them.UPDATE: we have received a release from Hamilton County Emergency Services: A fire destroys a home
in the Soddy Daisy area this morning. A 9-1-1 call was made by a
neighbor reporting a house fire at 1139 Old Thatcher Road. Sequoyah
Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on
the scene reporting heavy smoke pouring out of the eaves. Sequoyah
requested a Mutual Aid response for additional assistance. Mowbray VFD
and Soddy Daisy Fire Department responded to the fire scene.
Within 5 minutes after the first unit arrived on the scene, fire
officials notified dispatch and reporting flames shooting though the
roof.
The homeowner, Wayne Snyder, spoke to Officials reporting the renter ,
Heather Farley, had been evicted from the house a few weeks ago.
No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Damages to the house are a total loss and valued at $125,000.
