The Ocelot (dwarf leopard) is a modular protected vehicle, developed by Force Protection Europe and Ricardo Plc. Both of these are UK-based companies. Other MRAP vehicles manufactured by Force Protection are Cougar and Buffalo. The Ocelot was designed as a private venture to meet a British Army requirement. This vehicle was revealed in 2009. It is a small, light and versatile mine resistant vehicle. It is intended for use as light protected patrol vehicle.
The Ocelot competed against the SPV400 to meet the British Army requirement. In 2010 United Kingdom ordered 200 Ocelot protected vehicles. In 2012 a follow-on order for another 100 vehicles was made. In 2013 another 100 were ordered. First vehicles were delivered to the British Army in 2012. This armored vehicle is known as Foxhound in the British Army service. The Ocelot also competed against the Thales Hawkei and MOWAG Eagle IV to meet Australian Army requirement.
