Video deals with the definitions of centric footing as well as eccentric footings
Eccentric in civil engineering means the centres of two elements are not aligned. Here, the centre of the column is not aligned with the centre of the respective footing. Hence it is called eccentric footing.
here are 2 types of isotonic contractions: concentric and eccentric. In a concentric contraction, the muscle tension rises to meet the resistance then remains stable as the muscle shortens. During eccentric contraction, the muscle lengthens as the resistance becomes greater than the force the muscle is producing.
ootings that are not concentrically loaded are known as “Eccentric Footings”. In addition, when footings are subjected to an axial load “P” and bending moment “M” or lateral force “H”, the footing will experience unbalanced stress distributions along the base of the footing.
