Internationally-acclaimed composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim was awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Philharmonic Society on Friday 29 May 2019.

It was presented on the set of his musical 'Follies' at the National Theatre in London by Dame Felicity Lott and RPS Chief Executive James Murphy. The presentation was introduced by Rufus Norris, Director of the NT, and Dominic Cooke, director of 'Follies', in the presence of the cast and company.
