At Freight Farms, we believe that the solution lies in empowering local communities to grow food for themselves. Through the use of our modular hydroponic farming tools, every community can access fresh, healthy food year-round, and every person can be a farmer and a hero for their community.

Our hydroponic container farms and farm automation software make it easy to grow fresh, healthy, delicious vegetables, year-round. Using a hyper-efficient vertical farming system, our farms are able to grow the equivalent of 2.5 acres of farmland inside a 320 square foot container, making them a solution for both urban environments, where space and arable land are scarce, as well as extreme environments, where the land cannot support traditional farming. Food can be grown in them year-round, regardless of weather, making Freight Farms well-suited for communities across the globe and able to withstand our ever-changing climate in the coming decades.

Using hydroponic farming, we’re able to deliver plant nutrients via a recycled water irrigation system, meaning that each farm needs only 5 gallons of water daily to grow thousands of plants. This results in 99% less water usage than traditional farming, an ideal tool for communities where drought is common and water access is scarce.

Our farmers sell their produce directly within their community, to individuals, restaurants, schools and more, creating a sustainable, hyper-local food system that is better for the environment and for the individuals involved. Communities no longer have to rely on shipping food halfway across the globe to eat greens that are lacking in taste and nutrition. We strive to reverse this by moving farms, not food.

Because they are modular, our farms offer a future food system that is completely decentralized, making communities less susceptible to global disruptions that impact their food access.
