Is the Ford Escape your next family car? With its beefy 183kW turbocharged petrol engine, it outguns virtually everything else in this segment, from the Mazda CX-5 2.5T to the Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI. As a result, you probably need to tick all wheel drive: with standard FWD, the Escape spins up its front wheels easily.
