Vertigo Dance Company performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 2012.
"energetic, aesthetic, and fresh" -The Jerusalem Post
Vertigo Dance Company is one of Israel's top contemporary dance troupes. They have performed internationally and received numerous awards in Israel and abroad. Founded in Jerusalem in 1992 by Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha'al, the dance company made its Jacob's Pillow Dance debut with "Mana," choreographed by Wertheim.
"Mana," which refers to a vessel of light described in the mystical text the Zohar, is full of beautifully theatrical metaphor and the athleticism that is a signature of great contemporary dance from Israel. In "Mana," Vertigo's dancers tackle gravity-defying turns, off-kilter backbends, and fluid interactions that reveal powerful emotions and striking images. An eclectic score by Ran Bagno incorporates waltz, jazz, and klezmer-influenced music, while dramatic set and costume designs transport the audience to a faraway world of shadow.
Jacob's Pillow Dance is a National Historic Landmark, home to America's longest-running dance festival, and recipient of the prestigious National Medal of Arts. To learn more about the Pillow: [ Ссылка ]
