Africa biggest street party 🥳.
The Calabar Carnival dates back to 2004, when it was first introduced by the then-governor of Cross River State with the aim of promoting Calabar as a foremost tourism destination while creating economic opportunities in the state.
Today, the carnival is said to be "Africa's biggest street party." This event hosts travelers from around the globe and showcases the rich and diverse culture of the people of Calabar.
Calabar Carnival is a four-day event, although celebrations leading up to it start on the 1st of December annually with fun activities leading up to the main event.
The bikers' parade, Miss Africa beauty pageant, Calabar street parade, band of the year competition, and international carnival, where groups from other countries perform to the admiration of spectators, are just a few of the events that take place throughout the four-day festival.
