WEEK 1 Surf Fitness Fitness Challenge
Welcome to week 1 of my 5-week Fitness Challenge designed to help you get stronger and more confident for surfing or even if you don't surf, just for your everyday overall well-being and happiness!
This week's fitness challenge is all about strengthening our legs and at the same time our core, which is used to stabilise our movements. I am using a resistance band XL strength but just like any form of resistance training, I strongly encourage you to use a resistance that suits your level.
Using a resistance that compromises your form during any workout will do more harm than good.
Remember the golden rule...Technique over reps :)
We will be working through a series of 15 exercises. Each exercise is to be performed for 1 minute and there are no breaks in between each exercise.
MODIFICATION: If you are not able to work for 1 minute per exercise, please adjust your working and resting times according to your level. As long as they fit into 1 minute (eg - 40 seconds on and 20 seconds rest or 30 seconds on and 30 seconds rest...you get the idea) you will still be benefiting from this workout.
Remember to initiate movements using your glutes, core and legs and perform each move with care and at a safe pace. Time under tension is what we are working towards so that you are able to improve your endurance and strength, which are key factors for us surfers!
The goal is to complete this workout once a day for 1 week until a new video will be released next week.
Week 2 will have two options
Option A - Complete the video from week 2 each day of the week, just as you did in week 1
OR
Option 2
Complete both videos from week 1 and week 2 at least 5 days of the week if you are up for the challenge.
This should give you an idea ( more of less) of how the rest of the weeks will go 😉
