A bomb exploded early on Friday (03/07) in the centre of Pristina, capital of Serbia's embattled Kosovo province, without causing any casualties, according to authorities. The explosion happened at around 6 am (0400 GMT) at a bus stop which would have been packed with factory workers just half an hour later. Windows from houses in a 50 metre (yard) radius were blown out by the explosion. Police sealed off the area and launched an investigation. Kosovo, in southern Serbia, has a 90 percent ethnic Albanian majority which is pressing for independence from Belgrade. A Serb crackdown on Albanian separatists has left around 300 people dead and forced thousands of others to flee their homes
in Kosovo in the past four months.
