Humor in music is the theme of this program by the 25-year-old pianist Hanna Bachmann from Vorarlberg, who is planning debuts in the Berlin Philharmonic and concerts in the UK and US next season. The conductor Kirill Petrenko has attested that Bchmann has "great musicality, creativity, high technical ability, fine sound, and a matured personality". From the childlike cheerfulness of Mozart (Variations on "A Woman is the Most Beautiful Thing" KV 613) and the profound wit and deliberate irony of Beethoven ("Diabelli Variations" Op. 120) to the pungent laughter of Prokofiev ("Sarcasms" Op. 17), the spectrum of variations on this generously equipped C is incredbile with 82 minutes of playing time!
