I was on a low-key ride in the twisties when I hit a bad patch of gravel coming out of a turn. I'm usually capable of spotting oil, gravel, dirt, etc. on the road. But a tree cast a shadow over this gravel patch making it nearly invisible. I guess I hit the throttle a little too hard coming out of the turn. Also, I was riding on cold tires. It was about 54F outside and I had only been riding for about 20 min.
If you look closely, you can see the traction control light turn on. It would have been a fairly low speed lowside because I was already slowing down into the corner, but if it weren't for the traction control, the bike would have gone down. So thank you BMW traction control! You saved my bike and my bum!
