Sherry W. Goodill, Ph.D, BC-DMT, NCC, LPC, has been working as a dance/movement therapist and educator since 1980. She holds a bachelor’s in Theater Arts/Dance and Psychological Services from Hollins University (Roanoke, VA), a Master’s of Creative Arts in Therapy with a specialization in dance/movement therapy (DMT) from Hahnemann Medical College (Philadelphia, PA), and a Ph.D. in Medical Psychology with a concentration in Mind/Body Studies from The Union Institute and University (Cincinnati, OH). Her 2005 book, "An Introduction to Medical Dance/Movement Therapy: Health Care in Motion, " has supported the application of dance/movement therapy for people living with medical conditions.
Dr. Goodill directed the MA program in Dance/Movement Therapy at Drexel University from 1991 – 2004, and is currently Clinical Professor and Chairperson of the Drexel Department of Creative Arts Therapies. She served as Chair of the American Dance Therapy Association Committee on Approval from 1989 – 2000, and from 2006-2015 as Vice President, then President, then Past-President of the ADTA. She serves on the editorial panel for the peer-reviewed journal Arts in Psychotherapy, and as guest reviewer for several other journals.
