We departed on a Friday evening to Kalpitiya and planned our activities a week ahead with Shehan the owner of Roshanne Beach Resort as we wanted to experience the maximum during the weekend.
On the next day early morning, we started the adventure with a dolphin-watching tour which costs you 26,000 LKR for the whole boat. After witnessing these magnificent creatures we swam a bit in the ocean and got back to have a sumptuous lunch. The lunch was absolutely delicious!
As the sun was high up we took some rest and later started our BBQ session on the beach around 6 pm while the sun was setting. The vibe around that coast was insane! We called it a day and slept a bit early as we had a very very early morning alarm as we had scheduled the Wilpattu Safari for Sunday morning.
We woke up at 3.30 am, got ready, and drove to Kalpitiya jetty to get to Eluwankulama by boat. This is one of the highlights of this whole tour as many of them do not know this service is available and this is the fastest way to get to Wilpattu from Kalpitiya. It's not only the fastest it is also the most fun way to travel to the wild early in the morning. Roshanne Beach Resort organises everything for you.
The Wilpattu jeep safari we did this time was the best ever safari experience I've done in my whole life as we were lucky to spot many animals and also in very beautiful environments. We spotted a leopard, elephant, eagles, deers, buffaloes, rabbits, fox, wild boars, peacocks crocodiles and hundreds of birds.
A shout out to Amit, our safari jeep driver who did an amazing job by showing us around in the most fun way and his jeep was modified like these jeeps in Tanzania, which I loved the most.
Afterward, we hopped into the boat and went to Uchchimunai to visit the Velankanni church, which is a popular among the Catholics. It's a holy place and I really felt it.
After so much adventure and experiences we got back to the resort and had some rest for about 2 hours and woke up for tea and packed our bags to head back to Colombo.
This is our tiny little story of a weekend.
