Analysing Implied Metric Modulation from Jaylen Moore in the track "Supercharged" by Anthony Burns.
The difference between Implied and normal Metric Modulation is that in the former, a part (Drums and Synth in this instance) give the illusion that the tempo has changed for a brief period and then they return to the home tempo. Great musical tool for creating tension.
In this example, Jaylen follows the Synth part that plays 16th notes grouped every 5, which imply a new virtual tempo, that he then uses to create the illusion of an 'over the barline' Quintuplet Groove.
