One of the towns closest to the epicentre of December 26th''s earthquake was Meulaboh in Indonesia''s Aceh province.
In this remote town aid agencies estimate that 40 thousand people may have been killed by the tsunami''s giant waves.
Relief supplies, according to the government, have reached 80 percent of the coastal town.
But there is still a looming threat of disease, with survivors of the tsunami who were injured and have infected wounds being particularly vulnerable.
On Wednesday, people continued their efforts to retrieve thousands of bodies that remain buried under debris.
So far two (b) billion dollars has been pledged to relief efforts but the challenges are enormous, with (m) millions homeless and threatened by disease.
