American Political scientist.
Huntington made influential contribution in the field of comparative politics.
He also studied politics of less developed societies.
He worked under the presidency of Jimmy Carter , Huntington was the white house co-ordinator of security planning for the National security council.

The phrase ‘Clash of Civilizations’ first used by Bernard Lewis in his article The root of Muslim Age(1990).
In The Clash of Civilization And The Making of World Order 1996, he advanced the controversial argument that in the post-coldwar era , conflict among the world’s major civilization would lead to warfare and international disorder.
Wars between nation states will not be on ideological lines but on the basis of civilizations.
Identity will be the primary source of conflict in the post cold war period.
This book came in reaction to the work of Francis Fukuyam’s 1992 book. The End of History and The Last Man (1992)
