What makes these Japanese? Not sure, other than this is apparently a pretty popular treat over there, particularly with whipped cream and strawberries. Easy to make as far as batter goes. Getting the hang of cooking them is a little more tricky. We added nutella for extra sweetness/chocolate flavour
Recipe:
Crepe:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
3 eggs
1 3/4 cups milk (2%)
1 ounce melted unsalted butter
1 tablespoon sugar
Whipped cream:
1 cup heavy cream (35%)
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Nutella, strawberries, bananas, etc for filling
Directions:
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together
- Add the eggs and whisk to combine
- Add the sugar and melted butter, whisk to combine
- Add the milk, mix into a very liquid batter
- In a well greased pan over medium heat, add in enough batter to coat the entire pan. Let cook until solid and then flip to cook the other side
- Let cool before filling and rolling
