On October 30, 2023 during a meeting of the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights, Senator Ratna Omidvar asked Rema Jamous Imseis, UNHCR Representative to Canada, and the Honourable Allan Rock, Canada’s Former Ambassador to the United Nations, if the 1951 Refugee Convention is still fit for purpose.
