It was in Kazakhstan that Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the Belt and Road Initiative, and now the revival of the ancient trading route is putting Kazakhstan on the center stage of international trade once again. In 2014, Kazakhstan launched a massive infrastructure program called Rorely Row, or Bright Road program, aiming at connecting its much needed nationwide highway network.
